GEDS was present at TSSRF, a 48-hour hackathon which was held in Galata Greek Primary School between June 20-22 2014 organized by Institute of Creative Minds and the Department of State’s Fund for Innovation in Public Diplomacy of the U.S. Consulate, Istanbul.
Being aimed at improving the culture of innovation in Turkey, TSRRF brought 150 creative minds from different disciplines and industries together with major professionals and opinion leaders in order to develop solutions for the challenges announced by corporates such as Koç, Arçelik, TOFAŞ, 3M, and Vestel in 48 hours.
The event also featured a number of lecturers and mentors including Gulay Ozkan, the founder of GEDS, as both a lecturer and a mentor, and Emre Girgin, a design consultant from GEDS, as a mentor. GEDS team introduced the lens of human-centricity in the project. In her lecture, Ozkan emphasized the role of understanding human context in creating experience innovation. She also talked about the importance of the courage to create -preferably positive- impact in starting a business. Ozkan also cited her experience at Singularity University GSP at NASA Ames Research Center as an example in this regard. The lecture can also been seen on TSRRF’s Youtube page.
TSRRF was an influential event in terms of searching new opportunities for socially, ecologically, and economically responsible entrepreneurial initiatives through communication and collaboration between entrepreneurs and professionals; and GEDS is pleased to be a part of it.
