In partnership with MIT Solve, GEDS hosted a workshop on health security and pandemics for members of the ING Turkey HR team. MIT Solve is an initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has a mission to solve world challenges. MIT Solve is a marketplace for socially impactful innovation through open-innovation challenges. This year’s challenges are:
- Sustainable Food Systems: How can we produce and consume low-carbon, resilient and nutritious food?
- Learning for Girls & Women: How can marginalized girls and young women access quality learning opportunities to succeed?
- Maternal & Newborn Health: How can every woman, new mother and newborn access the care they need to survive and thrive?
- Good Jobs & Inclusive Entrepreneurship: How can marginalized populations access and create good jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities for themselves?
- Health Security & Pandemics: How can communities around the world prepare for, detect, and respond to emerging pandemics and health security threats?
The workshop focused on rapid ideation, refinement and prototyping of solutions to economic recovery after the pandemic. We chose this topic mainly because we see the economic recovery as being critical over the next one to two years.
The ING team focused on barriers for employers during the pandemic. Two design questions came out from the workshop:
- How might we help employees return to work despite the barriers of pandemics?
- How might we make working home possible even for employees who do not have a proper set-up at home?
The workshop concluded several communication ideas for employees to make their lives easier during the pandemic.
The Solveathon workshop in partnership with MIT Solve was a great experience for GEDS. We would like to thank both MIT Solve and the ING Turkey HR team. We will be running the workshop again in autumn 2020 with another topic.
