9th TEGEP Education and Development Summit took place in 2019 in Istanbul with approximately 1000 participants 41 sessions and 53 speakers where Gulay Ozkan of GEDS was one of the invited speakers.
The summit presents a comprehensive and rich content that covers many topics related to the field of education development within the framework of a different theme each year. This year the theme for the summit was “Flow”.
As one of the invited speakers, GEDS’s founder Gulay Ozkan talked about “Guiding Flow with Design” explaining the correlation between flow and design. “The flow can be everywhere we look. And harmony is one of the core components that make flow possible. Design aims to create this harmony between people and things, cultures, systems, and technologies” said Gulay.
She also gave GEDS’s award-winning project MATUROLIFE as an example where design management was used to create harmony among the 20 partners coming from 9 countries. In the project, service design tools are used to align all partners around the user stories. Moreover, visual design specifically used to simplify the concepts for people coming from many different backgrounds.
Moreover, she talked about the role of GEDS at MATUROLIFE where GEDS leads design to develop assistive technology prototypes, electronic or ‘smart’ textiles, that collect data and communicate with older people to support independence and improved quality.
We would like to thank TEGEP for their kind invitation and great hosting. It has been a great experience for us and it was a well-organized summit with awesome speakers.
